The school mainly focuses on the All-Round Personality Development of students and preparing them to meet the ever-changing technological and social challenges in their career with traditional self-discipline, hard work, and a creative approach to problem-solving.
The School thrives to make the ambitious students Industry-Ready by imparting High-End Technical Skills that will help them to get a bright career in the Information Technology sector and/or pursue their career in research. The Coursework is designed and upgraded continuously to maintain the standard and address the current industry needs and improvise students to have a better chance to gain a suitable job and have a successful career.
The school of IT has taken initiatives to develop in-house software for administrative purposes. The staff members of IT have contributed in the areas of E-governance, skill development, etc.
The Programme of BCA conducted a Three Days Orientation Program from 8th to 10th January 2024 under the title,“Contemporary Computer Technology and its Applications”, for Government School Students as an outreach initiative in association with GNCCOI at Periyasamy Government Higher Secondary School, Velachery.
The School of Information Technology, organized Inter-Collegiate Fest Juno 2K24 on the 20th & 21st February. The Banner of the Fest and the Overall Trophies were revealed by the Principal on 12th February .Experts in the corresponding fields were invited as judges for various events. Technical events were judged by the industry experts and Alumni of the College. 817 participants from 58 colleges participated in the mega event. Loyola College won the overall trophy and D.G Vaishnav College bagged the Runners up Trophy.

Ms. Deepika B and Ms. Dharshini P, of B.Sc IT, secured 1st place at the Intercollegiate competition "COM- UTSAV 2K'24" on August 29th, 2024, hosted at New Prince Shri Bhavani Arts and Science College.

On the 29th of December 2023, the Programme of Information Technology hosted its inaugural Skill Swap Session - 01, focusing on Adobe After Effects - 101. The event unfolded at the RDBMS Lab. The session, facilitated by Mr. G. GuruSuryaVel, a proficient 3rd year B.Sc IT student, encompassed a comprehensive exploration of Adobe After Effects, covering topics ranging from installation procedures and utilization of plugins to recommended settings, basic operations, shortcuts, and exporting techniques.
Mr. Harikrishnan, Head – India Business Development and Mr. Raghavendran - Technical Content Specialist of Data Software Research Company (DSRC) were the Resource Persons for the workshop on Technology Stack on July 7 organised by MCA. They interacted with the students and gave insight into the current scenario of IT Industry and skills to be developed to be competent.
G-IT HUB Association, Program of Information and Technology organized a two-day hands-on training workshop titled “Machine Learning with Python-A Hands-on Introduction” for the final year students of B.Sc. IT, on July 12 and 13. The resource person for this event was, Mr. J. Saravana Kumar, a technical educator from Inspire Softech Solutions. He interacted with the students about real-world examples of AI tools and Machine Learning Models. He illustrated the working behind Google translator, Google lens and ChatGPT and moved on to working with Python. He presented the students with a problem statement that later instructed the students to solve using functions in Python. He also explained the methodologies used in Data Collection, Data Processing, Data Encoding and emphasized the importance of processing data before feeding it into the model. Later, he went on to illustrate the use of Sci-kit Learn Library for Machine Learning algorithms.

The Programme of Computer Science organized a workshop on Clicks and Conscience – Ethical Social Media Use on August 30. The Programme of Data Analytics organised a three-day workshop on Data Visualisation and Power Automation from August 12 to 14. Mr Gopala Krishnan, Founder and CEO, KG Data Solutions, Chennai and Mr Prabhu Shankar, Test Manager, DXC Solutions, Chennai were the resource persons.
On August 5th, 2024, Programme of Information Technology organized a workshop for first-year students on the topic "UI/UX: Design in Action." This workshop provided students with valuable insights into UI/UX design and its impact on e commerce. The session covered various aspects of the design process, equipping students with practical knowledge and skills in the field.
An International Workshop on “Harnessing Machine Learning and Data Science for Predictive Modeling” was organised by the programme of Computer Science for its final year students on 17th February. The resource person, Ms. Rishikha Thangavelu, Data Science Passionate, Melbourne, provided a comprehensive understanding of various machine learning algorithms, their applications, and the ways in which data science techniques can be leveraged to extract meaningful insights from data.
The Programme of Computer Applications (BCA) organized a three-day hands-on training on "Tally ERP.9" for its second-year students from 28th February to 01st March. The training aimed to equip the students with practical skills in preparing balance sheets, filing tax returns, creating profit/loss statements, generating fund flow statements, and calculating GST. The session facilitated by the final year student, Mr.Gunalan, truly exemplified the effectiveness of peer learning.
The Programme of Information Technology organized a two-day workshop titled “Business Development Masterclass” for the students of B.Sc. IT, on the 8th and 9th of February 2024. The resource persons for this event were, Mr. Navneet Krishnan, Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Aakash Chokalingam, Chief Operating Officer - EDUNAV PVT LTD.
A three days’ workshop, conducted by the Programme of Computer Applications (BCA), was held from 4th to 6th January 2024. The topic for Day 1’s session was, “Promising Career opportunities for Java Developer”. The Resource person, Mr.Karthikeyan, working in an MNC, delivered an insightful speech on Java programming. This session enhanced students’ understanding of Java programming and provided them with practical insights into the professional aspects of a Java developer's career. The topic for Day 2 was “Elevating Software Quality through effective Testing”. The Resource person, Ms. M.V. Priyanka, Quality Analyst, Amazon, emphasized the importance of adopting best practices in testing for achieving software quality, also provided practical insights, by sharing real-world case studies illustrating how effective testing practices contributed to the success of software projects. The topic for the Day 3 was, “What Industry expects from Data Analyst”, The Resource person Ms. Srilalitha Ravi, Business Operations Analyst, NATWEST Group, stressed the importance of data quality, discussed the crucial steps of data cleaning and pre-processing.

The Programme of Computer Science organised an Industrial Visit to iGene School of VFX Technology, Velachery on 17th February. The Visit intended to provide an exposure to various stages in VFX and the students were thoroughly briefed on the role of Rotoscope, MatchMove, 3D Modelling and Paint in VFX.
The Programme of B.SC (Visual Communication) organized an Industrial Visit on 18th January, 2024, as part of the syllabus and curriculum to cover the subject of Television Production for the 4th Semester students. The 2nd year students went to the ‘Ninaithaley Inikum’ serial shooting spot where the team interacted with the students. Post lunch, the students visited ‘Sundari’ and ‘Kadhalum Modalum’ serial shooting spots. Students observed the indoor shoot and interacted with the artists and technicians.
The students of BSc Information Technology embarked on an enriching Industrial visit to Retech Solutions to unravel the synergy between entrepreneurial endeavors and technological innovation. Mr. Madan, a specialist at Retech Laser, provided a comprehensive overview of the Cartesian robot. The Pro Plus machine was elucidated by Mr. Vijay, an expert in the field.

The company's General Manager delivered an introduction of the company and its functions. This industrial tour provided insight into the company's setup and workflow to the student.

The Programme of B.Sc, Information Technology organized an Industrial Visit to a Software Development and Testing Company named Casperon (Pyroferus Technologies) at the Chennai Citi Centre on 11.03.2023. The HR department highlighted the company's technical competence, and the Software Project Lead of Casperon Technologies delivered a detailed technical description of the company's current implementation and technologies. Pyroferus Technologies' Testing Manager expressed on the importance and necessity of testing software before deployment. He also encouraged the students to follow an efficient learning schedule to use their Twenties much efficiently by picking up the right domain/vertical and working towards the programmatical requirements to make the best out of their future. This industrial visit turned out to be highly effective and had a great impact on the students.

On the first day, the students visited the Mercara Gold Coffee Plantation Estate which helped the students learn about the coffee processing from initial to final stages. On the Second day, Students were taken to Dubbare Elephant Camp, Nisargadhama Bamboo forest, Golden Temple and to the shopping arena where they purchased few products produced in Coorg. On day three, Students visited a few more waterfalls locally in Coorg. The Visit gave an insight about the natural flora and fauna of the nation to the students.
